Just because something is "mythology" doesn't mean that there wouldn't be expectations. Personally I feel the more important part to "accuracy" is intentional vs. unintentional changes. You want the armour to be black even though the history department disagrees? Go for it. But if they're also in jeans and flipflops, the director probably isn't trying and should be called out for it.
