I just watched the Enterprise episode “Similtude” wherein a symbiant clone of commander Tucker (with only a 15 day lifespan) is created in order to save his life. The clone (Sim) develops from infant to adult in about 5 days, and shares all of Tucker’s memories of his life at each effective age. It’s a very ethically challenging story, clearly inspired by Blade Runner but unique in its own ways. We only had to wait 3 seasons for the kiss that removed all doubt.
I think this has to be my all-time favorite episode of this sometimes mediocre Trek series. I dismissed it when it first aired, but it’s grown on me as a streaming series. It has a real multi-season arc. Another superficial comparison would be with the X-Files, which had its share of filler episodes, and a sublime arc.
