@cstross@wandering.shop @gatesvp@mstdn.ca true, but that’s kind of the point: the UK did not abandon a city [in England] in those two generations and it did rebuild the infrastructure that was destroyed - nobody sane would have denied that bombed things are in need of repairs or claimed that Germany is a conspiration of cartographers. The US is not being bombed and probably won’t. Its city are destroyed by climate change (which does not exist) and economical policies which are the best on the planet.

    @thias@mastodon.social @gatesvp@mstdn.ca The UK came *very* close to abandoning Liverpool under Thatcher, and it'll be a cold day in hell before the Tories form a government in the Scottish Parliament—also thanks to Thatcher, who was part of that retreat from industrial superpowerdom. I'll grant you the volume of denial coming from the US right wing over climate change is sufficient to power the turbine hall on the Aswan High Dam …
