@TheGentleKlingon@mastodon.art oh yeah and because the world is not a kind place, there's always the weird fringe people who do make their own bread every week and will loudly and smugly talk about how much better they are than you for doing it and how *gosh* you must not care about [insert topic here] if you buy store-bought bread. they're the minority, but they do exist, they are loud, and if you can't figure out how to make a loaf that actually rises (oven spring!), they are among the first to tell you scornfully that it's easy and a child could do it, you must have done something horribly wrong.

@titania@retro.pizza this is giving me anxiety now lol (half-serious, half-joking) but yeah, that's absolutely on point, it's such an odd assumption to think anyone can "just do" something that one has spent years learning the ins and outs of.
