@solar_chase@mastodon.green Apologies if it's egg-sucking advice but FWIW advice I got for a rooster falling down on his duties to flock was to separate him for a bit. Ganders plural may be different dynamic I know.

@samueljohnson@mstdn.social yeah, I should have split them into pairs earlier this year. These are only a year old, and I wanted goslings mostly from their parents (push back the inbreeding problem a few years), but my old gander Samson started a slow decline and died last week. He is much missed. Next year I'll split them up earlier, and these youngsters will be proper adults. Too late for this year.
