@freja@freja.zone I haven't played animal crossing so correct me if im wrong, but the sense I've gotten from what I've seen of the design is that the idea is usually that you have a town/whatever that belongs to you and some details about that town is out of your hands?
Like, the idea to me seem to be that the games are supposed to be like, a digital home town of sorts rather than a minecraft world? Like, obviously you got a lot more agency managing your space that you'd realistically have even as a mayor, but it's still a place you manage more than a place you create.

@Owlor@meow.social it's different in every animal crossing game. in the switch one you're not the mayor of the town, but you (eventually) get full freedom to shape the outdoor areas of the island however you want (much more than in previous entries) however, if you have multiple users on the switch, they all become inhabitants on the same island, rather than getting to start their own separate "save files" like some other games. that's what some people were mad about
