@JulianOliver@mastodon.social In Arkansas a local AI Data Center (one of two proposed) was also approved despite public opposition. We had the farcical situation this week with the CEO of Central Arkansas Water saying that the facility will require 4M gallons of water per day. This was followed by news that Arkansas is going through a historic drought with water supplies in some areas already at dangerous lows.
State residents will get NOTHING significant in return for taking on board all kinds of risk.

@otherdog@mastodon.social how come nobody seems to know what happens to water after it goes through a radiator? it doesn't Go Bad™or something, does it? if a datacenter is paying to haul millions of gallons of water in from elsewhere, could they direct their outlets into a reservoir that somehow benefits a community under drought? i have a hard time accepting this "ur with us or ur with the turrists" zero-sum framing.
