@akkana@fosstodon.org It's interesting to think about in any case. Like perhaps it's measuring the gap throughout the day (or season) as the sun hits it.. All conjecture, but I'm glad they're doing some real observational science out there. It's a welcome change of pace from the idiocy of the current regime in charge that's filling my feed today!
