@lritter@mastodon.gamedev.place Japan did have enemies in the 1920s. But scientists usually don't care about that. That's the nature of science, generally. That said, Wasaburō did work for the war effort during WW2. He devised high-altitude fire balloons to descend on US territory. But his calculations were off because not enough was known about the jet stream at the time, and most of them fell short. So that effort mostly failed, but produced useful data about the jet stream.
