The thread shows the majority don't like impersonalised automation replacing wait staff. I have a different reason. I haven't owned a cellphone for ten years, so I'd be excluded from ordering. Besides, the thought of every person in a restaurant peering into their cellphone is off-putting. Enjoy the meal with conversation and without the distraction machines. It makes food taste better. QR codes are fine for fast-food joints, but for fine dining? Never. @jnicholson@mastodon.nz

    @BobLefridge@mastodon.nz @jnicholson@mastodon.nz I wouldn't mind a table kiosk. It's the part about having to use my own phone and then to also have my own phone service (seriously why do the restaurants that have them not also have free wifi). We encountered these QR codes a lot while visiting Melbourne and Brisbane last year, and we hadn't bothered to buy phone service while there, and the public city wifi was ... inconsistent, at best.
