New anime season. First in line for me: Needy Girl Overdose Apparently a critic of Japanese society and idol culture, through the eyes of a suicidal, drug taking internet streamer And just judging from the first episode: "subtext, what is subtext?" That's not meant to be entirely dismissive either. Not just what to make of it yet... But it does have some "this is edgy art! roar!" vibes. I mean they literally have a Clockwork Orange milkbar scene, complete with namedropping "ultraviolence" Also, yeah, Serial Experiments Lain is very obviously a major influence as well. If they do it justice... remains to be seen Also, for everyone wanting to see it, content warning for self-harm, suicide, drugs, sexual assault This is not a fun show
