Our systems evolve, so we have periods where what would not be efficiently done in a well-designed system nevertheless make some sense for a while, as an extra or a transition, or even a demo. I do wonder if we could do something with surplus power in Scotland, that can't be got down the wires at the time. Yes, batteries, more wires, eventually.
