It's metric course threads that ISO724 only specifies even numbers of mm for nominal diameters above 5mm.
Why, when fine threads are available on so many more sizes? It makes no sense.
Someone should revoke their permission to use the metric system if they can't use it responsibly.

@geoffl@mastodon.me.uk but once you get involved in R-numbers/preferred sizing, it's all hand-wavey anyway. Very old metallurgists don't like metric threads as they're very sharp and crack-like.
