@Cat_LeFey@pagan.plus My back garden is bordered by a brook, with a 12 to 15 feet steep bank down to the water, with trees. If it rains, the brook can rise to a deadly torrent very quickly. There are steps down to the water, but I exit swiftly at the first sign of rain. From high ground I can see the Severn estuary. It's said Sabrina, spirit of the Severn, always exacts her annual tithe of blood... My local river has two names. One translates as "Grey River" the older name means "Stone Breaker".

    @SJAsh_03@mastodon.sdf.org ah, this is why I like to find older names of places, they're accurate, lol. The river near me is now named after some colonizer, but the original name translates to "place of wild rice" which is much more useful to know.
