@Moosader@mastodon.gamedev.place one thing I really love about Zun/Touhou is that he opened it up for fans to do whatever they want, even commercially, with the only restrictions being attribution and no redistribution of his commercial games. It turned what would have been a few really good games into an internationally recognized series more popular as a whole than most AAA series where anyone can add their own games/characters/animations/etc One recent "fan" game that blew me away https://store.steampowered.com/app/2248430/Touhou_Artificial_Dream_in_Arcadia/
