@screwlisp@gamerplus.org @publicvoit@graz.social There is no way we claim leadership on other implementations. The idea is to make it easier for projects outside Org/Emacs to keep the compatibility. Proper syntax specification is one idea. Another is standard testing suite for parsers.

To make it very easy for tools was the idea of OD1. https://gitlab.com/publicvoit/orgdown/-/blob/master/doc/Orgdown-Levels.org Any specification could help if it's not an all-or-nothing approach. That's the greatest risk from my point of view. Testing suites for parsers could replace the compatibility tables of https://gitlab.com/publicvoit/orgdown/-/blob/master/doc/tools/Template.org 👍
