As soon as even a small part of a cars window is exposed to light it create a greenhouse effect, this causes the entire car to be warmer than its surroundings and all the snow on the car will quickly melt (actually sublimate) away, even if the car never gets above freezing. That's the principal I'm saying needs to be employed in an electric system, the rail needs to be kept at all times above the ambient temperature, otherwise, because rails are a giant heat sink, they tend to trail ambient temperature (be cooler than morning temps, hold daytime heat in the evenings). Ultimately it's the morning cycle that ends up being the problem, but if the rails are KEPT above ambient the whole time that problem shouldn't arise in the first place.
