Yes, that's my main gripe as well.
But in general, yes, we need to keep pushing for the independent solutions. But we need to find a way to push institutions not people. One reason is, that institutions, collectively, have the money to create bespoke solutions that everyone will WANT to use. Institutions ate multipliers.
Convince one user, and you have progress. Convince one institution and you have hundreds or thousands of users.

There is also @bawü.social Maybe tell the ministry of science in #Bavaria that they are behind :) Could be more efficient than at local university level.
