@brembs@mastodon.social @neuralreckoning@neuromatch.social @olibrendel@scicomm.xyz @thetransmitter@mastodon.social In Baden-Württemberg we have some movement in the right direction, with a BW GitLab state service coming online: https://www.urz.uni-heidelberg.de/en/research-and-teaching/research-related-projects/bwgitlab Maybe state level is even better, at least in Germany? There is also @bawü.social Maybe tell the ministry of science in #Bavaria that they are behind :) Could be more efficient than at local university level.

@jekely@biologists.social @brembs@mastodon.social @neuralreckoning@neuromatch.social @thetransmitter@mastodon.social In France, we have a state level platform, accessible to all civil servants to create working space and then invite collaborators. It includes OnlyOffice for docx and Collabora for odt documents. And many French platforms of institutes or universities or state are nextcloud based, so locally installed and open source

@jekely@biologists.social @neuralreckoning@neuromatch.social @olibrendel@scicomm.xyz @thetransmitter@mastodon.social Yes! That is definitely worth considering! I'm not sure how this would chime with those who always hammer on about univeristy autonomy, but it is definitely an option one should not lose sight of! It's also possible that the best solution is a mix of consortial, state and institutional infrastructures.
