@@flosillermastering@mastodon.social Automatic webpage translation works within Firefox/Librewolf already, to be enabled in settings. Languages are downloadable each by each, and translation works offline as well. This is a joint project ("Bergamot project") of several European universities in conjunction with Mozilla.

I can't talk about the quality of translations, however Google translate isn't working well with German idioms already, (think "spiel nicht die beleidigte Leberwurst") - and it Google adds tracked user data to their tracking pool as well, as those translations happen in the Google cloud rather than locally. @@mosgaard@uddannelse.social

@jrp thanks! I would use that in a heartbeat but is there a way to link to the auto-translated website so people in all browsers and with no extensions can view it in English? I'm ok with the Google translation overall and would have done it myself if the blog owner hadn't decided against multiple versions of entries... Still I'd like to avoid Alphabet products in general, so any alternatives are welcome!
