I published the source for the Pi-based Unifi RTSP stream viewer on Github. It's using Rust to control a gstreamer pipeline that renders directly to the framebuffer at a pretty decent frame rate. Also added some goodies like image views, camera titles and a real-time clock. The Waveshare display looks pretty incredible. It's very bright and clear in-person. https://github.com/mmastrac/pi-frame
