Seven days in and I'm feeling a little rough. I am extremely attentive to the ways I am not doing things perfectly and am reading that as everyone in my life despising me. It's the perfectionist streak that guided me through law school, and it's an awful feeling. Last night, I made a tasty miso glaze for some salmon and I made sure I didn't get too much salt on my portion, but then I went back for more. I'm sure I blew through my daily recommended sodium intake. Even when I'm trying hard to get things right, I fail. I'm still doing better than I was, but my inability to follow the rules is going to kill me someday. In my clearer, more positive moments, I realize that I'm eating like an 85-year-old or a hospital patient, and that I can forgive myself as long as I'm making directional progress. I'm not so sure "staying alive a long time" is a big motivator for me, but enjoying my time does matter to me, and I trust that I'll feel better once these changes stop feeling like a burden.

I'm having a lazy Sunday and feeling like total shit about it. But motivation is low.

@HG@beige.party Make sure to give yourself grace; one of the biggest predictors for crashing out of a diet is being miserable the whole time you're doing it. It's important to make sure you enjoy yourself within reason, otherwise it won't be sustainable long term.
