As an aside, people for years and years have been complaining that e-mail is not secure. We have PGP end-to-end encryption, and it's easy enough to use. The problem is that gmail and other major e-mail providers want to read your e-mail, so they will not give you this feature. You have to take it for yourself.

    Right from the very first message they sent to my new Gmail account in 2004, Google was reading my mail to serve ads.

    @rainwarrior@mastodon.social there's a neat browser add-on called "Mailvelope" that adds PGP support to web interfaces for a ton of email services -- starting with gmail and ending with open-source solutions, such as ones based on roundcube
