@Colman@mastodon.ie What kind of EV are you thinking about? Only one I've travelled in is a Nissan Leaf, which seems good. One thing to factor in is replacing the battery after a few years, which is dear; they're also hell on tyres because they're heavy

    @sinabhfuil@mastodon.ie Renault 5 in a nice bright yellow.:-) It's almost as small and cheap as you can really get and as a plus, isn't boring as fuck. And isn't *that* heavy. The predictions of battery death seem to be exaggerated and likely to be more so with a newer car. I didn't want to buy second hand so I'd get the benefit of recent tech improvements. 10-15 years (with reducing range) seems likely and I'd hope that greater availability of charging points would offset the range problem.
