@chrysn@chaos.social Hah, @ethersync@fosstodon.org *is* that tool you're describing :) You run it as a daemon, and it will synchronize directories. If an editor opens a file, it will indeed look for an .ethersync/ directory, and then "take ownership" of that file (so that the daemon doesn't change the file under it's ass).
