@masukomi@connectified.com @jenniferplusplus@hachyderm.io yep we're on the same page about that, for sure. one thing we will say is that there are meaningfully different data models (gerrit and forgejo are nothing alike) and we hope any federation that people come up with treats that as expected and normal

I don’t think *code* needs to be globally searchable but you need to be able to find the repos that may have what you want. But what exactly does that mean ? Descriptions and README doesn’t sound sufficient but I’m not sure what would be.
