An opt-in service can't really censor you, because you can just choose not to keep using it. Or it might mean they won't supply their service for your site, But that's the same with ClownFlare.

@strypey@mastodon.nzoss.nz Well, okay, maybe "censorship" is the wrong word. But you do kind of need some sort of DDoS protection if your speech is unpopular enough.
