@robinsyl@meow.social I agree with this entirely. I've read folks stories about how paperwork in other countries can be overwhelming, but I've recently gone through several processes over here that involved over a hundred different files, in total. It's overwhelming and the information is often contradictory. I feel like the American reputation for "efficiency" is actually more marketing than anything else - the reality does not match the way this place is advertised.

    @scarlet@plush.city as with most things, it seems to be based in an assumption that “well, obviously our way is the best way and the most best of anything, how could anything else possibly compete? duh”
