@bitprophet@social.coop since I have a (mostly empty 🫠) MediaWiki instance set up facing the public web I figure it's the least if my worries if someone manages to guess that I have a copy of effbot's "Call-By-Object" essay or a copy of gravislizard's UI rant. At least those are dumb HTML that is cheap to serve.

    @bitprophet@social.coop this opinion is very much informed by scrapers written by Enthusiasts with pudding for brains that were web-scraping individual archive.zip off my Gitea instead of cloning the goddamned repos. Very wasteful activity that drowns out EVERYTHING else in my perception of load. Though the attempts to randomly guess pages (probably mostly attackers) on my MediaWiki are probably not a small amount of load, it's never noticeable in my htop and causes no hitching on the server so whatever.
