been thinking about this. Foxes in the furry fandom have a reputation for being sluts. But it doesnt make sense. Foxes have short breeding periods, and sometimes they even choose one single mate depending on access to resources, etc. Its kinda the complete opposite. I think the furry fandom is made up of a lot of horny people and foxes are a common pick for a 1st fursona, which is where the connotation came from. basically, its just humans being humans again lol

  • it was kinda sad when I started to realise that a lot of furries don't have a strong connection to nature. When I first started to be a part of it, I remember asking people reasons why they chose their fursona, expecting a long detailed essay about why they love that animal, and I was often met with indifference. Things like 'they look cool' or 'my friend picked it for me'

@midnakrystal@sadbitches.online there are lots of things like this. there is a lot of supposedly "wolf-inspired" kink stuff about "alphas" knocking up "omegas" but in wolves and other animals who live in societies like that, it's the dominant pairs who breed. subordinate wolves/meerkats/ants/etc are not allowed to breed. so it should be "submissive and sterile" not "submissive and breedable" lol... plus wolf characters are often portrayed as bloodthirsty and obsessed with meat, but real wolves only hunt when they need to. they actually prefer berries over meat. berries make up over 80% of their diet when the berries are in season! https://esajournals.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.1002/ecs2.70035
