The marketing of these products has stirred up so much fear in high places that there will be people both wanting them to be unregulated AND wanting them to only be available to those in high places.
Yes, revel in the double irony.
While at the same time, these tools will begin systematically changing what knowledge work even means and making it easy for even more sociopaths to rip off people.

Yes, the technology is neutral-ish. But there's such a crowd of crypto bro ishness around it that any of the useful aspects are being tainted by grifters and frauds. Whenever I meet a person super enthusiastic about LLMs, I have to take a solid 5-10 min to figure out where in the spectrum of grifter to cracked to nerd they land. I hope for nerd because then I can nerd out with them. The others I nod and walk away slowly. 5/
