Yes, the technology is neutral-ish. But there's such a crowd of crypto bro ishness around it that any of the useful aspects are being tainted by grifters and frauds.
Whenever I meet a person super enthusiastic about LLMs, I have to take a solid 5-10 min to figure out where in the spectrum of grifter to cracked to nerd they land.
I hope for nerd because then I can nerd out with them. The others I nod and walk away slowly.

I use this stuff at work for hours and I enjoy myself thoroughly. It makes me super productive and get a lot of dumb tasks done. But that most means helping resolve CVEs or triage a bug faster. I know of no one. 0. Nada. Who has vibe coded themselves 100% of the way to solve a new and novel problem. This helps demonstrate exactly how shallow the intelligence of these things are. They are as deep as you are. If you can't validate them, then you will be fooled. 6/
