Imagine a world in which the government has nearly unlimited agency where they can deal with every single infraction of the law, even the most minor ones. Result? A totalitarian state wearing the loose skin of a liberal democracy that it eats from the inside.

I'm not a big fan of our so-called liberal democracies, but they give space for dissident voices. Now imagine that space is gone and when Keir Starmer outlaws your NPO as a terrorist organization that he doesn't need to wait for you to show up at protest to arrest you. How hard would it be to infiltrate EVERY potential dissident group? Right now, agency to do this is very limited, so governments must focus on the most extreme groups. Now imagine that agency is cheap, or rather...
