@skjeggtroll@mastodon.online @thomasbeagle@mastodon.nz the old-school ones were very much like that. Heinlein, L. Ron Hubbard, Marion Zimmer Bradley, John Lange, Orson Scott Card, Ted Beale, many others.
No not every sci-fi author sucks but a LOT do.

@Elizafox@social.treehouse.systems @thomasbeagle@mastodon.nz There's a gulf between the statements "there exist sci-fi authors who are bad people" and "most sci-fi authors are either 'age-of-consent libertarians' or techno-fascists." Even in the short list you came up with I'd quibble that not many are good exampes of either 'age-of-consent libertarian' or 'techno-fascist' specifically.
