@agowa338@chaos.social This meme is stupid. Roman roads didn't need to withstand multi-ton metal cages. And old UNIX programs aren't great either, it's just what people have gotten used to

@tragivictoria@mastodon.catgirl.cloud Well the thing is one road was built to last the vehicles that drove over it and the other wasn't. It is perfectly possible to build modern roads in a way that they're not immediately broken again. But that would cost a bit more money, so we don't... And for the rust rewrite thing it is kinda the same, we didn't take the previous lessons learned into account and just produced something that looked great - at first...
