If it's any consolation a lot of shows are moving away from ads because the market is too oversaturated.
Also fwiw: while I dislike ads in podcasts, I don't you know, have any resentment for you creating this. People need money in this world, sadly.

@lapis@elekk.xyz it was always my goal that shows would be monetized by premium subscribers mainly, and then free listeners would get a few high quality ads. This way, a show could afford to build their audience, and creatives could make a living doing this. I was moderately successful at this up until right before Covid. Podcast ads were selling for easily 10-20x YouTube ads. Now the value is in the toilet, and the volume of ads increased to compensate. I think because of consolidation in the industry.
