@agiletortoise@mastodon.social I decided against Rivian because they didn’t support CarPlay. Not sure if that’s still true but worth a check if that’s important to you.

@agiletortoise@mastodon.social still no CarPlay was a deal breaker for me!

@agiletortoise@mastodon.social We have an R1S (gen 1 quad). Absolutely love it! They made some changes from Gen 1 >> Gen 2 that I am not a fan of. Example interior door handles are now stupid buttons. Only thing I would really say to "watch out for" is that the R1 series has all the "fancy flagship" stuff (and the price to go with it) where the R2 will have MUCH of this, if anything on an R1 is a must for you, it may not be a thing on the R2. Oh, also, if you are a "must have CarPlay", never say never, but it's not happening. Rivian is very much going the end-to-end route with everything. The company <> customer relationshiop has been very good over the last ~3 years. If you have any specific questions, feel free to ask any time. Have fun! 😃

@agiletortoise@mastodon.social Have you driven an EV with regen? If not, know that it can't be disabled on a Rivian. There are multiple levels but it's always enabled. I love it (and one pedal driving) - got used to it in a couple days and can't imagine going back. Some people find it off putting and it influences the rest of their experience.

@agiletortoise@mastodon.social I thought I'd miss CarPlay, but honestly it hasn't been an issue at all.

@agiletortoise@mastodon.social I use a third party CarPlay screen I’d just get comfortable with the feel of the drive and the on screen buttons

@agiletortoise@mastodon.social Lack of CarPlay is an issue, as I don’t think the Rivian software is as good (although there is a software update pending that offers improvements in the voice interface… we’ll see) but overall, it’s the best vehicle I have ever owned. I’ve been all-electric for 9 years now.

@agiletortoise@mastodon.social We've had an R1T for four years. It's mostly driven by my spouse - who loves it. We've had fewer problems than I expected from a new company and most were very minor. They have a mobile service option but availability has been iffy of late. Can't depend on it. They have a limited number of dedicated service centers and our is a trek. Worth checking. We've also, unlike most reports I've seen, had some annoying experiences with their customer service. Hoping it improves.

@agiletortoise@mastodon.social Oh - and auto insurance for EVs (both the R1T and my Ioniq 5) seems crazy $$$$.
