@whitequark@social.treehouse.systems It's an odd one, certainly. I find that I find myself in spaces that *have a lot of trans people in them* but that aren't exactly trans spaces. It's not a bad way to be positioned, but I will admit that I do miss a sense of common cause with other people going through the same shit sometimes.

I can actually feel sad about my somewhat shitty situation rather than being dissociated to the point of not being able to feel anything or get anything done?

  • @iris_meredith@mastodon.social from experience (and I do want to reaffirm that it is my experience), you're not missing anything positive. the former kind of space, the one you're in, tends to be far healthier and less dysfunctional. and while going through the same shit as your peers might feel nice, i'm not even sure that exactly works out—someone trans in the UK has a pretty different kind of struggle than someone trans in Washington, US, even though the places are pretty similar culturaly
