@alex_p_roe@mastodon.world Yes the amateurism of British politics has long been evident

@ChrisMayLA6@zirk.us @alex_p_roe@mastodon.world Hence the premierships of Cameron, Johnson and tRuss. An Irish mate of mine has a son who remarked that the English (NB) need to get over their folly of falling for charlatans with posh accents.

@ChrisMayLA6@zirk.us @alex_p_roe@mastodon.world Didn’t the Civil Service used to prevent politicians from looking like amateurs in the decades up to the 80’s. Then politicians started to see Civil Servants as their enemies - hindering all their “best” ideas, and now we are left seeing the amateurs for what they are, and we wonder where all the adults went. Have I over-simplified the problem?
