@tessaracht@kitty.town Kind of unfortunate for me, too, because I won't have the boasting rights of being metal enough to choose death when I have the option to live forever lmao. Immortals whose children can choose mortality sounds like a pretty fraught situation tho, like they say no parent should have to bury a child and imagine a child choosing to grow old and die when the parent is still young and have forever to remember & mourn them 💔

    @ljwrites@writeout.ink yeah! if we ever get functional immortality, it's super likely to happen! it'll be a whole psychological thing for people to work through, and fiction should explore it! or like... what about degenerative brain disorders like parkinsons, imagine being an immortal child of an immortal parent who needs assistance and doesn't remember who you are. there's so many dynamics that our society ignores dealing with by just waiting for people to die, that we'd have to actually work through.
