Why did Bubsy, of all failed attempts to make a new mascot from that time period, stick? Like, I can see why Blinx and Vexx and Awesome Possum and Aero the Acro-Bat and whatnot fell into obscurity, but why out of all those did Bubsy manage to stay relevant? Were sales for the first two Bubsy games just that good? Was it The Room syndrome from Bubsy 3D? Was it something else? Like I'm genuinely confused here. Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining; Bubsy 4D looks absolutely kickass, and I enjoyed Bubsy 1 anyway. I'm just like. Out of all the cut-rate half-assed new mascot attmepts, why is Bubsy the one that's popular enough to get a revival?

@CadeTheCat@tiggi.es I think it's a combination of the series being uniquely bizarre, difficult, and trying way too hard. "The Room of video games" is a great way to describe the whole series. But it stuck in people's minds, even if it was for bad reasons. Nobody remembers Cool Spot or 𝗬𝗢! ᴺᵒᶦᵈ, but Bubsy stirs a terror in many a millennial soul
