@pixelambacht@typo.social anything above id 255 is reserved by the spec, for uses outside the spec (that is, True Type official uses will all be 255 or less). But there's no registry, so it's a free-for-all. I've used it in some of my own tools.

@drj@typo.social I seen a lot of > 256 being used for, for example, human readable names of variable instances. But either way, that's probably overkill. And I don't know how many type designers would bother logging in to a WF admin panel to override texts for their font. So I guess we're back to simply listing all characters ;-)
