@lightweight@mastodon.nzoss.nz @futuresprog@mastodon.nzoss.nz I used to believe that AO's smallness and transparency prevented corruption, but the current lot are waking the cynicism in me. If I had any sway with Green strategists, I'd be hammering this message. The Greens are tarred as lefty hippies, but they could turn that to their advantage because lefty hippies are the least susceptible to corruption.

@foxylad@mastodon.nz Pretty sure Jones was seen as a lefty hippy type back in his Nga Tamatoa days. Also Tim Shadbolt, back in his geodesic dome fact finding world tour days. My eldest has cleaned up after any number of selfish grifting lefty hippies on the festival scene (I carefully haven't said "told you so") Centrepoint community was seen as a group of lefty hippies. I'm afraid the general.public perception of lefty hippies is probably not that they are entirely incorruptible @lightweight@mastodon.nzoss.nz @futuresprog@mastodon.nzoss.nz

Another thing that comes to mind is that some hermits are not susceptible to corruption, but they don't get involved in politics.
