@alienghic@timeloop.cafe Interesting, I don't generally check email on the weekends so I don't know if there has been changes, but UCI on a directive from the office of the UC president was as of Friday keeping canvas locked down and telling people not to use it until they were more confident in the security.

    @SRLevine@neuromatch.social The reason I posted my message was to fish to see if someone else had more information. Instructure's current statement is basically currently useless and just says we don't know anything, and we hired someone more competent to help us figure out what happened. That's not a terribly comforting statement. Which is probably why some universities are saying "stay off" until they know more. But also it's a website for posting course details, exchanging messages, and tracking grades. I don't think your downloading and running software from canvas? So if someone could maliciously change some data on canvas what would be the consequences be? I probably should say don't post things you wouldn't be willing to be public into canvas for a while. Though I tend to think of that as a general rule you should follow for any third party tool
