@Natanox@chaos.social @MyWoolyMastadon@toot.community @Brad_Rosenheim@climatejustice.social @Harlander@writing.exchange Makes sense. Those numbers should be standardised worldwide, or the entire EU should forward 991 (and 999) to 112.

@rhelune@todon.eu @Natanox@chaos.social @MyWoolyMastadon@toot.community @Brad_Rosenheim@climatejustice.social @Harlander@writing.exchange 112 is standardised in the GSM specification (although not all countries respect that properly)

@Brad_Rosenheim@climatejustice.social @rhelune@todon.eu @MyWoolyMastadon@toot.community @Harlander@writing.exchange @Natanox@chaos.social They were standardized as part of GSM and then LTE/5G. So any mobile device will support both 112 and 911 in any country even if there’s no SIM. No other number is guaranteed to work anywhere even with no SIM. https://eena.org/blog/is-112-a-valid-emergency-number-in-america/ No idea about land lines.
