@davidr@hachyderm.io GIFs cannot get the framerate of real videos, they max out at 256 colors, do not have fractional transparency, and cannot really achieve any modern resolution or duration without absolutely choking your bandwidth and computer to death. As far as I know, transparent videos have all the good properties of modern videos, incl. hardware acceleration.
