² a tip for cis people: you should really really avoid using, or mentioning, a trans person's previous name (their deadname).
I can't really explain it, but I (& many other trans ppl) really really don't like hearing it, or being referred to with that name.
Someone gets married, and changes their name? Many don't have a problem seeing their maiden name. But for me, as a trans person, I really don't want you to think of me as that name.

trans people are very open with each other. What we call sharing probably counts as “oversharing” for yous 😅. But we really don't share deadnames. I don't know the deadnames of nearly all of my trans friends. We _don't_ share those things.

@amapanda@en.osm.town "It's called a deadname because if you tell it to anyone or continue to use it, you are dead to us".

@amapanda@en.osm.town thanks for that footnote. I wanted to ask the question about deadnaming when you mentioned the edit to your WikiData entry. I assumed that „it’s just part of the history" like in OSM, but didn’t think about the "really don’t like part" of the personal history.
