If you want to try it yourself, you can start with an Arduino Leonardo. Using the Keyboard-Lib you can generate any USB keyboard event.
So the Arduino becomes the interface between any switch you like on one side and acts like a USB keyboard on the other side.
So with very little coding, you get your first results.

@DD3AH@social.darc.de @Hoonse@chaos.social Add one of these guys for tuning : https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005005072238869.html A 400 position one tunes pretty nice. 2 x ball bearings are almost too smooth. I traced what I thought was some backlash to an unbalanced knob responding to gravity.

@DD3AH@social.darc.de thank you. That would be my plan. Idk if this would be something more people would need. It would be a nice fun project to design a pcb with an magnetic encoder and some buttons. 🤔
