A 400 position one tunes pretty nice. 2 x ball bearings are almost too smooth. I traced what I thought was some backlash to an unbalanced knob responding to gravity.

@vk3kri@mastodon.radio thank you for the hint. That would work great. I was thinking of using an magnetic encoder chip but this would surely make the hardware design easier.
