@lizzard@mastodon.social I liked the note in a linked page suggesting that the cranky miller of Sarehole Mill, near Tolkien's house as a young boy, was a model for Ted Sandyman.

@jmeowmeow@hachyderm.io oh hmm ok. I remembered wrong. So the water mill was ok but coal or wood fired mill bad. I also think maybe things build of wood or stone were ok but metal or machine oil is auto evil
